On January 22, 2015, Minister Yamaguchi paid a visit to the Aoyama Gakuin University Sagamihara Campus to see the work of the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science.

Minister Yamaguchi observed a 3D adapter that researchers believe will be useful in remote medicine applications. The Minister also learned more about the development of a system to optimally combine molecules based on researcher theory and experience. This new molecule changes colors when exposed to light. Minister Yamaguchi was pleased to see progress at a university engaged in world-leading and publicly open research.

At the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Minister Yamaguchi was able to personally observe the latest astronautical science advancements in Japan. The Minster saw the institute’s satellite control room, the Hayabusa return capsule, particles brought back from the Itokawa asteroid, and assembly work being performed on the Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter.
At the conclusion of his visit, Minister Yamaguchi stated, “I hope that one day we will see the technologies I observed incorporated into official policies.”
