On March 18, 2015, Minister Yamaguchi greeted Myanmar Science and Technology Minister Dr. Ko Ko Oo during Dr. Oo’s visit to Japan.

Referring to Minister Oo’s past experience as an exchange student at Osaka University, Minister Yamaguchi expressed his hopes for more opportunities for interpersonal exchange between Japan and Myanmar. Minister Yamaguchi indicated that such exchange could contribute to the scientific and technological advancement of both countries.

Minister Oo responded, stating that he would welcome a more cooperative relationship in the fields of science and technology between Japan and Myanmar for the benefit of both countries. The Minister also indicated that the Myanmar government is currently drafting laws related to science, technology, and innovation policy, and that he would welcome Japan’s cooperation.
