The Cabinet Office dispatched an African Science and Technology Research Mission from February 18 to March 8, 2009. This Mission is one of the activities in the consensus reached at the first Japan-Africa Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting convened in October 2008. The Mission members exchanged information and opinions with government officials responsible for science and technology and researchers of major research institutions in the visited countries as well as of their neighboring countries. The Mission members broadened the knowledge on the current state of science and technology in Africa, and deepened exchanges.
