  3. The Elderly and Child-Raising

- Looking at grandmothers and grandfathers involved in child-raising, in the survey on who regularly raises children aged one and six months (multiple answers allowed), "mother" is the largest at 95.4%, followed by "father" at 49.4%, "grandmother" 26.1%, and "grandfather" 10.6%. These results indicate that one in four children are raised by their grandmothers and one in ten children are raised by their grandfathers. (Chart 1-3-2)
