Program outline

Departure of the ship About 120 Japanese youths and nearly 150 youths from 15 countries, including those ountries to be visited, sharing daily life together on board ship for approximately 50 days, visit North, Central and South American and the Oceanian regions or Southwest Asian, Middle Eastern, African and the European regions every alternate year. While on board the ship, youths from Japan and various other countries study and discuss issues of common interest from a global viewpoint and are involved in lectures, introduction of cultures, sports, recreation and various club activities. In the countries visited, exchange with local youth and visits to different facilities take place.
   This program has been carried out since 1988 by reorganizing the Japanese Youth Goodwill Cruise Program started in 1967 as one of the programs to commemorate the Centennial of the Meiji Restoration.
