On June 11, 2007, Minister Takaichi received a visit from astronaut Akihiko Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Astronaut Hoshide is slated to participate in the assembly of the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" on the International Space Station scheduled from next year or after. He spoke with Minister Takaichi about various related matters, including how this dream he had since childhood was being realized by a strong act of will.
Minister Takaichi encouraged him warmly, remarking that "The secret of success is to keep going until you achieve success. I am truly looking forward to seeing this happen."
