Subject | Acceptance of ginseng tea in sachet (under 10g) or capsule as a food.
Details of Measures | It was explained that in Japan, ginseng had been used as a drug, and therefore the ginseng products in sachet or capsule were generally handled as a medicine, but that they could be handled as a food if their shape and usage are close to those of a food, e.g. if they are stick-shaped and drunk by being dissolved in hot water, provided that they do not have the indication of effects as a drug.
