Subject Concerning the import of modern Japanese swords, abolishment of the application procedure for the import quota necessary to be taken after the issuance of the registration certificate under the Firearms and Swords Control Act, or permission of the import quota before the issuance of the registration certificate.
Details of Measures Reply was made that Japanese swords were designated as one of the import quota items from the viewpoint of preventing the danger and securing public safety and allotted only to the persons who had obtained the permission (the registration for art objects) to have them under the Firearms and Swords Control Act, that it was difficult to exempt Japanese swords from the import quota system as their import quantity was strictly checked as mentioned above, and that the import quota inspection period would be shortened from the present 3 weeks to 4 - 5 days for the importer's convenience.
