Abolition of the import notification of (a) the foods which will be processed within Japan, (b) foods manufacturing machines and (c) those of which safety can be secured in view of the past records among the fresh fishes and shell-fishes imported by air cargoes, or at least the admission to take over the cargoes by the importer before the certificate of import notification is issued. 2. Establishment of a collective notification system concerning the foods and equipment to be imported continuously. |
||
Details of Measures | Explanation was made as follows: 1. Import notification shall be made unnecessary with regard to certain processed food materials such as animal crude oils and fats, malts and hopes, whose safety is secured at the manufacturing and processing stage of finished food. In cases of continuous imports of foods, etc. such as rice, wheat, soybean, whisky and metal tableware, which are stable in quality and have few sanitation problems, notification on each import shall be made unnecessary and annual or triennial notification shall be made sufficient. In cases of continuous imports of such items as tea and chocolate, of which no violation of Food Sanitation Law has been recorded for a certain period of time and which have considerable records of imports, notification on each import shall be made unnecessary and annual notification shall be made sufficient. 2. While the above measures will be taken, the procedures will be more simplified and expedited by introducing the prior notification system for all foods and extending the period of validity of analysis certificates for food processing equipment and food packaging. |
