Subject Concerning the internal floating roof petroleum storage tank,
1. Relaxation of the regulation for the tanks whose diameter exceeds 50m.
2. Making the deletion of requirement for the mesh screen on roof venting known to all local fire offices.
3. Admission of the use of FRP as the material of roof venting.
Details of Measures 1. Reply was made that when a tank was on fire, disaster prevention materials and equipment suitable for the tank structure were necessary for fire fighting strategies, and it was difficult to more relax the regulations than made in 1982.
2. Reply was made that it had been made known to all local fire offices in 1983, and that to make it again, a notice had been sent to all prefectural fire office directors. (Notified on July 4, 1985.)
3. Reply was made that the use of glass fiber reinforced polyester would be permitted, and a notice to the effect was sent to prefectural fire office directors. (Notified on July 4, 1985.)
