Subject Concerning wall coverings relaxation of the fire prevention performance test standards to make possible their sale to hotels, etc.
Details of Measures Explanation was made that the sale of the product in question to hotels, etc. was possible, as the use of fire prevention materials was not compulsory to all the interior finishes of buildings, but wall coverings other than fire prevention materials could be used for many interior finishes including the part which is separated by floors or walls of fire-proof construction or fire door from other parts at each floor area within 100m2, the part having sprinklers and smoke eliminating equipment, etc.
Explanation was further made that the examination of new international standards for fire prevention performance tests was now under way at the International Standardization Organization (ISO) and our country intended to actively participate in it and would make studies to adjust our standards to the international standards, and that we had decided to accept as a rule the foreign test data in our approval procedure for fire prevention materials and make studies to establish the guidelines for such acceptance by the end of March 1987.
