Details of Measures | 1. Regarding expediting the plant quarantine process, reply was made that the authorities had made efforts to improve the situation by increasing the number of inspectors, expanding the fumigation house and enforcing quarantine on holidays. It was further explained that the Narita Airport's cargo storage facilities would be expanded in fiscal year 1986 and then examination would be made with the aim of enforcing the quarantine inspection within the facilities to speed up the inspection if the situation of the facilities, etc. is fully prepared to receive it. 2. Regarding the pests to be fumigated, explanation was made that even the kinds of pests similar to those already living in Japan sometimes have different feeding habits and breeding capability, and so, if any pests is found in the inspection, fumigation is necessary. |
