1. Relaxation of the use of sulfur dioxide.
2. Acceptance of the test results of SGS, a Brazilian international laboratory.
Details of Measures 1. Reply was made that among the standards for the additives, the restrictions for use would be established or revised based on the result of examination by the Food Sanitation Investigation Council on the scientific data submitted from the applicant with regard to the usefulness and safety of the additives.
2. We can accept the test results of any official laboratory registered in Japan through the exporting country's application for it. But as Brazilian laboratory SGS is not yet registered here, we explained to the complainant and the Brazilian Embassy about its registration procedure and requirements.
