| Details of Measures | Reply was made that the kind of fumigant and treatment time varies depending on the species of pests to be disinfected, because the sensitivity to fumigant varies with the species of pests. The complainant has previously imported cut orchids six times. The fifth time, thrips were found and the plants were fumigated for 30 minutes with hydrogen cyanide gas. Noctuid moths were found the sixth time, and the plants had to be fumigated with methyl bromide gas for two hours. In both cases, the appropriate action was taken for fumigation consistent with the particular species of pests found. |
