Complainant | Swiss firm | Exporting Countries | Switzerland |
Subject | In keeping with the international harmonization of Japanese standards and the acceptance of foreign test data, import permission of herb candy for which an official Swiss testing organization detected no artificial coloring agents. | ||
Details of Measures | In this case, the product was reshipped by the importer without any public intervention since the artificial coloring agents other than the additives specified in the contract were found in the product in the voluntary inspection by the importer. Therefore this is the case which should be resolved between the importer and exporter. However the Ministry in charge of the standard of food additives has replied the following two points for their reference. 1. There seem to be no conspicuous errors in analytical methods for the voluntary inspection by the importer. 2. There are no authorized international standards on analytical methods for food additives. In regard to the exporter's request that foreign-generated data be accepted, it should be noted that acceptance of such data is standing policy. |
