Details of Measures | It was replied that the use of sorbic acid up to 500 ppm the product is permitted but not sodium benzoate. It was further replied that the food additive usage standards would have to be revised before the use of sodium-benzoate could be allowed in canned herring products, that revising the standards would in turn require studies and deliberation by the Food Sanitation Investigation Council, and that the Council would have to have an application for review with all of the required information on, the purpose for use of the additives, methods of its usage, experiment of results demonstrating its effectiveness comparison with the same kinds of additives allowed at present. |
