Subject | Exemption form the inspection for specific frozen vegetables | ||
Details of Measures | It was explained that, regarding the import of frozen plants (meaning plants frozen -17.8°C and stored and shipped in that frozen state), a minimal inspection including confirmation that they are indeed frozen is all that is needed if certification that they are frozen plants is submitted. It was also explained that French fried potatoes and other products that have obviously been heat-treated are exempt from this inspection and that it may be possible to waive plant inspection for such products that have been frozen after heat treatment if documentation is submitted showing the manufacturing process, the processing temperatures, the time elapsed for heat treatment, and other date as would enable the authorities to make a technical assessment of the adequacy of sterilization. |
