Subject | Exemption of the import inspection in Japan for cut flowers that have been pre-inspected in the exporting country. | ||
Details of Measures | It was explained with regard to the (1ampling) import inspection conducted by Japan on cut flowers that have already been inspected in the Netherlands that this inspection is necessary to ascertain that they are the same flowers that were inspected in the Netherlands and that the flowers have not been contaminated after inspection. Given that this inspection has turned up flowers that were falsely packaged to give the impression that they had been inspected in the Netherlands, flowers that were infected or infested after inspection, and other problems, this requirement cannot be abolished. It was further explained that study would be given to simplifying this 1ampling import inspection if specific measures can be taken to improve packaging and otherwise prevent such problems as post-inspection infestation. |
