Subject | Concerning the imported tractor, 1. Acceptance of data and reduction of costs for agricultural tractors that have been approved by OECD 2. Expansion of the opportunities offered for applying for testing for agricultural tractors that have been approved by OECD |
||
Details of Measures | 1. It was explained that Japan accepts the test results for imported tractors that have been approved by OECD and does not require duplicate testing. However, independent testing is carried out on certain items that are deemed essential given the peculiarities of Japanese agriculture (e.g., optional waterproofing and continuous operation of the power lift) and that it is impossible to waive the entire type inspection simply on the basis of the OECD test. It was also explained that the fees for testing a tractor that has been OECD-tested are less than the normal fees. 2. While applications for agricultural tractor type designation testing are currently accepted thrice yearly, it was further explained that study is under way with the inspection agencies on the feasibility of accepting applications for OECD-tested tractors at any time. |
