Subject | Approval of inspection by the copy of the inspection certificate, transmitted by facsimile, on the stipulation that the original of inspection certificate issued by the government authorities of the exporting country is submitted later. | ||
Details of Measures | It was explained that the regulations of the Domestic Animal Infectious Diseases Control Law provide that inspection certificate or a copy shall be submitted thereof when importing any animal or animal product subject to animal quarantine, and that this inspection certificate must not be such as is easily altered. However, since there is no effective means known to prevent alteration of the certification in the case of facsimile copies, a facsimile copy cannot be accepted as or in lieu of a copy of the inspection certificate. It was further explained that the animal quarantine is aimed to prevent invasion of animal infectious diseases at the water front and that it is therefore impossible to accept the request for inspecting only with a facsimile copy even if the original of the inspection certificate is submitted after import. |
