Subject | Concerning knives to be used as house ware, explanation of the reasons for denying customs clearance and clear indication of the conditions that would have to be met to receive clearance | ||
Details of Measures | It was explained that the Firearms and Swords Control Law contains a general prohibition against the possession of daggers and the like to prevent injury, and that the import of a knife is prohibited if it is found to fall under this daggers-and-the-like category. As a result of reviewing the documentation submitted by the plaintiff in this case, it was determined that, with some exceptions, these knives do not fall under the sword category and that they may be passed for custom clearance. It was also replied concretely what criteria of daggers-and-the-like category are used in making this determination. |
