Subject | Increase in the amount of commercial samples of foods that can be imported without notification to 30kg from 10kg at present. | ||
Details of Measures | It was replied that the Food Sanitation Law requires import notification for products so as to prevent harm to consumers when these products are sold to the general public and that there is no provision for exempting imports under a certain volume. However, it was also replied that this 10kg guideline is simply a rough guideline for reference in deciding whether or not import notification is needed in the case of personal baggage and products that are not obviously going to be put up for commercial sale, and the 10kg guideline is in no way intended to imply that weighs 10kg or less is eligible for import as sample. |
