| Details of Measures | It was replied that canned pineapple is subject to import quota and that quotas are set for specific sources in keeping with the total quota set in consideration of domestic demand and other relevant factors. As a result, there is a need to accurately ascertain the actual import volumes for products subject to import quotas and that the current practice is thus to "actually inspect" the product by weighing it to measure the actual volume content, although this is done with sampling in the case of canned pineapple. It was thus replied that it is impossible to grant the request for a change from actual inspection to simple inspection of the labels, since such a change would make it impossible to ascertain actual volumes. |
