Subject | Reduction of the costs at customs inspection. | ||
Details of Measures | Any person who wants to import cargo must obtain import permit from direction-general of customs after necessary inspection of cargo. While such inspection should in principle be conducted at such place as designated by the customs, there are no legal provisions stipulating the fees for inspection or other charges and the customs agents do not collect any fees for these inspections. However, a person wishing to have his cargo inspected in the place other than designated by the customs must receive approval from the customs, and it is stipulated that said person must pay an appropriate fee to the customs authorities. It's replied to the complainant as below: because the inspection in this case was conducted in the place designated by the customs, no inspection fee was collected by the customs, so inspection charge (transporting Cargo etc.) might be collected by the customs agent. |
