Details of Measures | In accordance with the provisions of Article 16 of the Food Sanitation Law, it is necessary to notify the Minister of Health and Welfare of the import of foodstuffs, additives, utensils, or containers whether for sale or for commercial use. No notification is required when it is clear that utensils and the like are being imported for the private use of the importing party. Nor is there any need for any inspection to ascertain whether or not the utensils are in conformity with the standards for china under the Food Sanitation Law. It was explained that this cases probably arose because the representative (the customs clearance agent) tried to explain the situation to the complainant without first checking with the inspection station to ascertain what the situation really was. |
