Subject | Simplification of the import inspection under the High Pressure Gas Control Law for seats imported containing high-pressure gases. | ||
Details of Measures | At present, seats with shock-alleviation equipment using high-pressure gas are subject to inspection upon import under paragraph 3 article 22 of the High Pressure Gas Control Law (removing the gas and the container, analyzing their properties, and otherwise ascertaining that they are as described on the imported declaration). Notification 2 Hoan 20 of April 5, 1990, has simplified these import procedures by stating that no actual inspection is required at the time of import if it can be confirmed from the packing certification etc. (the certification issued by the packing or the inspection agency) that the article is in fact the same as described on the import declaration. Nevertheless, it was further explained that, given that imports of seats with shock-alleviation equipment by the same operator have recently been frequent, notification was sent to all prefectural governors as of July 19, 1991, that provision is being made for enabling an operator to get a comprehensive import permit as concerns import within one-year and that this system will apply for items landed on or after August 1 1991. |
