Details of Measures | The COCOM list of restricted items was revised comprehensively in 1991, and as a result, Japan's Export Trade Control Ordinance was amended in November 1991. After the revision, the product concerned (main unit) was removed from the list of restricted items and an export license was no longer required. The complainant was advised that where parts (printed boards for microcomputers) are concerned, this is left up to the company, using separate parameter sheets according to whether they are (1) a part especially for the main unit (cannot be put to any other use), which is not on the restricted list, and when the purchase price for computers or peripherals does not exceed 35 percent the price of the part in question, or (2) multi-use purpose parts (computers) or when the purchase price exceeds 35 percent. |
