Subject Simplification of pressure vessel inspection for air-conditioning equipment
Details of Measures A trade delegation from the American Refrigeration Institute (ARI) visited Japan on March 12, 1992, and in their preliminary investigation for the purpose of expanding exports of air-conditioning equipment, they suggested that the High Pressure Gas Safety Institute of Japan accept test data from an appropriate testing organization designated by the ARI in the testing for air-tightness and for pressure resistance conducted by the Council.
On June 8, 1993, the ARI and the High Pressure Gas Safety Institute of Japan confirmed that (1) HSB was the testing organization specified by the ARI, and that (2) the High-pressure Gas Safety Council had made a contract with HSB to accept the latter body's test data.
The High Pressure Gas Safety Institute of Japan and HSB subsequently made a contract to accept the latter body's test data for refrigeration equipment (August 1, 1994), and testing in Japan was either waived or simplified. The complainant was informed that, as a result, data had been accepted in 455 cases as of August 7, 1996.
