Details of Measures | 1. In Japan, standards for the use of food additives are studied and determined based on necessity, usefulness and safety. The allowable content for sorbic acid potassium in jam is set at 0.50 g/kg or less. 2. The complainant was advised that in order to change usage standards, an application must be made to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, accompanied by data concerning the need, usefulness and safety of the change. The Food Sanitation Investigation Committee on the basis of the documents submitted studies applications made, and the standards are changed if no problems are found. Upon receipt of this answer, the complainant answered that they wished to close processing of this complaint. |
