Details of Measures | The customs office, based on the rules of the Customs Law, carries out the necessary inspections of goods for which an import declaration has been submitted. However, in some cases the importer may be required to give an oral or written description of the goods, when determining whether they are prohibited from import, to confirm whether they require permits or witnesses under statutes other than those related to tariffs, or to determine the appropriate tariff. (When the title of the materials declared raises doubt that the content may be harmful to public morals, importers may be required to describe the contents.) However, in the interest of speedy processing, the authorities will endeavor to process selectively and to require further information only on imports which appear suspect. | ||
