Subject Tariff classification for nata de coco
Details of Measures The tariff classification for nata de coco is carried out according to the rules of the HS Treaty, an international treaty concerning standardized naming and classification of products, to determine the applicable tariff number.
Nata de coco includes products made from a small amount of coconut milk mixed with sugar to which an acetobacter called nata bacillus culture has been added, which is then fermented and solidified, the product simply frozen, and the product in syrup.
The tariff classification for this product, based on the provisions of the above Treaty, is "other prepared foodstuffs" under No. 2106.90, which is classified as "without sugar" for the product simply frozen and as "with sugar" for the product in syrup.
The complainant was advised that this product is not a substitute for vinegar made from vinegar and acetic acid, and that it is not classified under No. 2209.00 of the Customs Tariff Schedule, as the complainant had inquired.
