Subject | Review of regulation of high-frequency radio wave for non-electrode lamps | ||
Details of Measures | Description of Complaint: 1. The high-frequency radio wave of non-electrode lamps, which have no filaments, and which are rated to last for approximately 60,000 hours, exceeds 50W, past which radio wave the restrictions stipulated in the Radio Wave Law apply, and a permit from the minister for posts and telecommunications is required for installation. 2. When there are no problems with resistance values against interference, as in the case of this product, there is little need for restrictions relating to high-frequency radio wave and the restrictions on high-frequency radio wave should be reviewed. The complainant was advised that 1. regulations concerning facilities using high frequencies are reviewed as necessary, based on trends in revising existing international standards and specifications. 2. Regarding non-electrode lamps, based on the complainant's request, the necessary procedures for revising ministerial ordinances for drawing up technical standards on which types are based are being undertaken, and the matter of changing from the current system of individual permits to type approval will be studied. 3. Because of the need to coordinate with concerned bodies and for examination by the council, the above study will require from six months to one year's time. |
