- For the purpose of comprehensively promoting policies related to the "transverse challenges" that were established in the General Principles Concerning Measures for the Aging Society, further policy researches such as completing guidelines or establishing policy systems have been carried out. In FY2003, the "Survey on Attitudes towards Age and Aging" was conducted.
According to the survey results, younger generations show stronger discrimination and prejudice toward the elderly. As for the treatment of the elderly, older generations hope that the current situation is maintained. The ratio of "should treat the elderly more favorably" is higher than that of "should treat young and working generations more favorably" among all the generations. (Chart 2-2-7)
