Subject | Revision of labelling of "asa" (linen) | ||
Details of Measures | The labelling of linen and ramie with the unified letters "asa" is required. But this does not mean the labelling other than the unified letters is banned. As long as the original components are indicated, other names can be used, separate from the legally required labelling. As to separating "linen" and "ramie, " the government explained that it will study the appropriateness of separate labelling, separation method, etc. after surveying such things as the current situations in the U.S. and Europe, the technical feasibility of detecting the ratios of "linen" and "ramie" in mixed fabrics, and Japanese consumers' awareness. Later, it was concluded that establishing a quantitative judgement method, which is required for separate labelling of "linen" and "ramie," is difficult. |
