Subject | Exemption from obligation to attach the phytosanitary certificate issued by the government of the exporting country in the import of seeds. | ||
Details of Measures | Japan requires the phytosanitary certificates from the exporting country's authorities for imported plants as is its right under the International Plant Protection Convention, and there is no provision for exempting a specific company from this requirement or extending other such preferential treatment as requested. It has also been confirmed that the British company in question is not accorded any special treatment in Britain. As a result, it was replied once more that the phytosanitary certificates issued by the government agencies of exporting countries have been required for quarantine inspections for seeds and it was replied the continuing efforts that are being made to simplify the procedures of issuing the phytosanitary certificates. |
