Based on the Basic Act on Ocean Policy, Headquarters for Ocean Policy was established to promote measures with regard to the oceans intensively and comprehensively.
The Cabinet Office of Japan is in charge of the tasks covering basic policies to promote measures with regard to the oceans comprehensively and systematically.
