Introduction to National Space Policy Secretariat, Cabinet Office
Based on the Basic Space Act, Strategic Headquarters for National Space Policy has been established within Cabinet Office to comprehensively and systematically promote policies concerning space development and utilization.
Strategic Headquarters for National Space Policy drafts Cabinet decisions on the Basic Plan on Space Policy, which establishes fundamental policies for promoting space development and utilization, as well as measures the government should implement comprehensively and systematically in this field.
Cabinet Office is responsible for planning and drafting policies concerning space development and utilization, comprehensive coordination, and implementing measures such as the development, establishment, and operation of the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System.
Committee on National Space Policy has been established within Cabinet Office under Cabinet Office Establishment Act to investigate and deliberate on important matters concerning space development and utilization policies.
Based on the above government-wide space policy, relevant ministries and agencies are engaged in space development and utilization within their respective jurisdictions.
