The International Youth Development Exchange Program (INDEX) for FY2024
The International Youth Development Exchange Program (INDEX) is one of the international youth exchange programs organized by the Japanese government and is implemented each year on different themes and with different partner countries. The INDEX consists of two pillars: “Mission of Japanese Youth to Foreign Countries” and “Invitation of Foreign Youth to Japan”. In each pillar of the program, Both Japanese and foreign participants are expected to learn public policies and good practices on the theme. In the Tokyo program at the end, they are then invited to exchange what they have observed on-site in partner countries and to discuss possible adaptations for their own countries in the future.

Mission of Japanese Youth to Foreign Countries

- Theme I: Renewable Energy – Morocco, Spain
- Theme II: Water and Disasters – Dominican Republic, Jamaica
- (Japanese youths were dispatched to Morocco and Dominican Republic)
(2) Number of youths
- Two delegations (each delegation consists of one leader, one sub leader and 12 participating youths) were sent to each host country
(3) Duration of the visit: 10 days
- September 21 to September 30, 2024 (inclusive of the days of arrival to and departure from each country)

Invitation of Foreign Youths to Japan
(1) Number of invited foreign youths: 32 in total
- Each delegation of a participating country consists of eight members, including one leader and seven participating youths.
(2) Duration of the invitation (length of stay in Japan): 11 days
- September 25 to October 5, 2024 (inclusive of the days of arrival to and departure from Japan)
(3) Activities in Japan:
- a. Tokyo Program (The above-mentioned Japanese youths who joined the mission to foreign countries participated in this program along with foreign youths. )
